What Makes Your Fans Tick

Part of being a nonprofit is understanding the all of the people you serve, including donors and supporters. Why not invite your Facebook fans to tell you more about themselves? While it’s not useful to them, it does make them feel heard – which is huge.

A sample Facebook update:

Write down the top five things specific things you’d want to know your community. Then post a multiple choice question, including the answers (to lower hurdles).

For example:

What was the best part of last night’s event?

A) Atmosphere, Food
B) Topics, Speakers, Content
C) Meeting People, Networking

Post four more questions, like the one above, over the next week. The answers you get back will be like pure gold.

Mix it up

Should you mix this approach up with others? Absolutely. No single approach works in isolation. To integrate this approach, try emailing your list inviting them to chime in on the top two or three questions.
