New Greenpeace campaign erases Lion King characters in a bid to spread awareness

In a bid to raise awareness of the crucial importance of wildlife conservation, a new advert from Greenpeace Netherlands, produced by Studio Smack, pulls on the heartstrings by showing what the cast of The Lion King would look like without any environmental help.

In the ad, the dutch animation house highlights the terrifying rate of dying species by depicting an alternative scene of the opening series of the popular Disney film. The work will appear in Greenpeace’s online magazine GPM, which currently runs four times a year.

Hack into Disney’s classic The Lion King, where we removed all animals from the movie’s title sequence,” the message on the Studio Smack Vimeo page reads. “Leaving us with the beautiful yet oppressive backgrounds of the African savanna.”
