6 social media pitfalls to avoid in 2014

It’s a new year, so what better time to freshen up your charity’s social media strategy? Check out these 6 traps which nonprofits tend to fall in to, courtesy of Kristy Kosak at Media Cause.

  1. Using odd profile pictures. Best to stick to your charity’s official logo across all sites to ensure recognition.
  2. Bombarding people with too much promotional content.
  3. Sporadic posting. Keep it regular and encourage interaction.
  4. Shying away from dialogue. You have a chance to interact with supporteers and bring in new ones, so use it!
  5. Using an @ symbol before tweets as less people will see it.
  6. Sticking to what you know and ignoring new trends.
